eugene’s river romp
[eugene, or, usa]
a grassroots housekeeping effort to repurpose the clothing left along the willamette river and give it to the river's residents.
we aimed to bridge the gap of home luxuries that are otherwise missed by not having an official “home.” this includes laundry and housekeeping. with many of the camps deep in the woods along the bank of the willamette, it was hard to lug unused waste and garbage out of the sites. we provided an outlet to dispose of the trash, collect left behind clothing, and provide human interaction.
a free burley trailer and our bikes helped us lug the trash
our neighbors aluminum cans funded the pop-up closet
our home washers cleaned the clothes
the eugene fresh air dried the and sometimes left a hint of smoke during fire season.
friends provided art, labor, and mirror mosaics
the main personal criticism i have is that we should have tried harder to use reclaimed materials.
